Transparent Vessel Constructions
SynDaver™ Labs has developed new transparent and translucent vascular constructions based on synthetic human cornea and arterial intima. Transparent and opaque silicone-hydrogel composite vessels are now available as well, to be launched first as straight sections followed by branches and other complex shapes.
SynDaver Synthetic Human Launch
After nearly twenty years of basic materials research, more than ten years of live tissue testing, and two years of alpha and beta testing, the SynDaver™ Synthetic Human officially launched today. This technology features removable and replaceable bones, muscles, tendons, veins, arteries, nerves, organs, and skin – all made from our experimentally validated library of SynTissue™ synthetic human tissues. The first product in this line is the female torso, to be followed in Q4 2011 by the full female body, and the full male body in Q2 2012.
Customers purchasing the SynDaver™ Synthetic Human will receive no-cost upgrades to tissues, organs, and anatomical systems as they become available for a period of two years after purchase. Comprehensive extended service contracts are also available.
SynDaver Synthetic Human Torso Beta Test
Pre-release testing on our SynDaver™ Synthetic Human Torso has begun! Site selection is complete and product is now being built for delivery to the 10 U.S. beta testers. These institutions include a cross-section of the finest military, medical device, and educational institutions in the country.
The beta model includes every muscle and bone in the human torso, a simplified heart with primary venous and arterial systems, trachea, lungs, and diaphragm, esophagus, stomach, large intestine, and small intestine, liver, pancreas, spleen, and gall bladder, as well as both kidneys and urinary bladder. The model supplied to beta testers is unisex.
In-depth testing will focus on compatability with a wide range of surgical devices such as laser scalpels, cryoablation catheters, radio-frequency ablation devices, harmonic blades, bovies, staple guns, puncture closure device, ventilators, airway devices, chest tubes and drains, coronary stent delivery systems, embolectomy catheters, and many other devices.
New Mitral and Aortic Valves
SynDaver™ Labs recently launched a new line of synthetic heart valves. Our new heart valve designer will allow clients to build aortic and mitral valves in a large variety of sizes (12mm – 42mm OD) in either healthy or diseased tissue format. These valves are typically combined with our aorta, vena cava, and heart models, and are currently being used by major medical device manufacturers in design verification and validation tests as well as clinical training applications. Pathologies include calcification, stenosis, and bacterial colonization.
Upper Extremity Partial Task Trainers / Phase Two
A synthetic human arm designed and manufactured by SynDaver™ Labs was used by IVIR Inc (Sarasota, FL) in a Phase 2 award from U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command Simulation and Training Technology Center (RDECOM STTC). The overall effort is intended to field more realistic upper extremity partial task trainers.
Our 4th and 5th U.S. Patents Issue
SynDaver™ Labs’ fourth (No 7,677,897) and fifth (No 7,699,615) U.S. Patents issued recently. These patents cover synthetic human body parts involving joints and methods involved in testing medical devices in soft tissue models. These patents add to our expanding portfolio of U.S. and international intellectual property. Our company and affiliates currently have more than 20 additional U.S. and international patent applications in process.

New Microvessels
SynDaver™ Labs has developed new vein and artery constructions in millimeter and submillimeter (0.1mm, 0.2mm, 0.3mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.6mm, 0.7mm, 0.8mm, and 0.9mm) sizes. The new vessel types are now sold as straight sections with branches and other complex structures available on a special-order basis. These vessels are ideal for microvascular anastomosis training.
