High school anatomy students at Brentwood Academy got to preview the new technology on Feb. 21 during a diagnostic exercise. Science department administrators at Brentwood Academy plan to extend the integration of SynDaver’s technology into the curriculums of more anatomy and physiology classes offered at the school, and eventually into lower level biology classes and middle school science classes.
“The SynDaver provides a platform for applying knowledge of many different aspects of physiology and anatomy. The life-sized, anatomically accurate model will help students better visualize structures and connections that are discussed in class,” said Jeff Bryant, dean of faculty and science department chair at Brentwood Academy. “Textbook photos are good, desktop models help, but SynDaver is the ultimate model in that it puts the structure in its anatomical context and can be manipulated by the students.”
The SynDaver Anatomy Model’s tissues are composed of water, fibers and salts, similar to a living organism and they accurately mimic the textual feel of live tissue. The model is equipped with replaceable muscles, vasculature, bones, organs and more.
